Some of the things we do…………………..
The council spends thousands of dollars each year and volunteers many hours to………………
Bloodbank From its’ inception March 17, 1970 to the drive on April 15, 2008 8,365 people have showed up with 7,265 pints donated. Plus 321 platelet donors
Missions Mission breakfast allows us to donate yearly $1,000 to overseas missions in South America
Haiti The council financially supports 1 boy and 1 girl for education costs and 1 meal a day at the school
Rosaries for the Troops
This idea born in September 2009 with plans for 300-500 rosaries. The response to help from people in Versailles, Ft. Loramie, Newport, North Star, Sidney, Greenville and Ft. Recovery has taken this to over 2500 and the goal is 10,000 rosaries. The idea came from reading about the combat soldiers requests reported by Fr. Carl Subler on the front line in Afghanistan. The work is all volunteer and funded by donations to the council for this specific purpose
Radio Maria This Catholic radio station based in Minster allows shut ins and others to listen to Catholic programming in their homes
Pennies for Heaven Is the collection of change at St. Remy & St. Peter and Paul, which is donated To the Archdiocese Vocation Office
Fraternal Sick Visits Support of a member who is in the hospital or recovering from an illness with a visit and a fruit basket
Fraternal Funeral Prayer Group Upon request the Knights have a group who pay proper fraternal respects at the funeral home with prayers and words to encourage. Mass Stipends for the deceased are included
Pro-Life Works with this parish council group in activities to bring Christian principles of life to the forefront in our community
Help a Pastor The members assist with a project that needs done at the pastors’ request
Excellence in Christian Living Award Is presented to the local high school youth who live the faith among their peers
Measure Up (State Program) Donations by members to our handicapped Ohio citizens for their care
Knights of Columbus Memorial Mass We gather to recognize and pray for the deceased members of our council and to acknowledge our debt to them. Reception follows for widows and members
Corpus Christi The local council has taken a lead role in organization and assistance to this event in honoring the Blessed Sacrament in a public setting
Keep Christ In Christmas The council sets up the crib and star, and participates in the lighting and gathering at the hall for the arrival of St. Nicholas
Highway Cleanup Cleaning up a section of St. RT. 48 keeps the council stewards of a small part of the land
Church, Religious Education & Catholic Advertising Various expenditures that the title explains it all
Recognition Breakfast The council honors those community members for their various acts of Christian charity and faith in action in a public ceremony. To encourage others by these examples to continue and spread the good works
Youth Group Our members run the St. Remy youth program for High School and are extremely active in the CCD program teaching on Wednesday Nights. This is an opportunity for the council to expand support to our youth
Lectors, Servers, Communion Distributors, Ushers Many of the council serve the church by the use of their time and talents
State & National Dues Go to support programs to encourage beliefs that we hold as Catholics in the formulation of public policies, and to oppose the forces that want to do away with Christian beliefs and symbols in the public life of the country
